Luke 7 begins with the story of a Centurion, a Roman soldier, who sends Jewish elders to find Jesus to heal the Centurion’s sick servant. The servant has become so ill that he may die and the Centurion, though a Gentile, believes enough in the healing power of Jesus that he sends the elders to ask Jesus to heal his servant. As Jesus gets closer to the Centurion’s home, he sends his friends to tell Jesus, “I am not worthy for you to come to my home. And I am not worthy to come to you.” But the Centurion, who is in a position of authority, understands how authority works. So he asks Jesus to “do it from there.” And because of the Centurion’s faith, Jesus performs a miracle and hea;s the servant.
The “Do it from there Jesus” tee is meant to remind us that even when we feel unworthy to be in the presence of Jesus, we can activate our faith for him to “do it from there,” and He will do it.
