Good is on its way to YOU

The other night I was praying for a close friend of mine, and in my prayer I asked God to remind my friend that all things work together for the good of those who Love Him. And surely my friend loves God so things are certainly working. As I spoke those words, the Holyspirit called me to get up and go to the scripture and read it in context. So I read Romans 8 in its entirety. It wasn’t immediately evident, but as I got to verse 26 it occurred to me that we don’t highlight the power of the Holyspirit enough when we declare Romans 8:28.

And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Romans 8:26-28

Romans 26 talks about how the Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us through groans. I always thought things work out for my good because of my love for God. The truth, though, is that things are working out for my good because I have an advocate (who knows the heart of God) going to bat for me.

We can have confidence that things actually will work out for good, even in our mess, even in our sometimes failing and oftentimes conditional love. The Holyspirit is interceding for us in ways we don’t understand, but God knows exactly what the Spirit is saying and the Spirit knows exactly what to say. He is pleading for us even in our waiting y’all. Especially in our waiting.

Think about a lawyer in a courtroom. They oftentimes represent defendants who have committed the crime. But that doesn’t stop the lawyer from defending them, for pleading the case with the judge. And the attorney knows enough about the law to say the right things. This is the work the Spirit is doing for us everyday.

There are some of you who are feeling like things may not work out because you’ve done something wrong, because you’ve made a mistake. But that mistake does not define you. The Holyspirit is working on your behalf so you can be certain that whatever the mistake is doesn’t matter. Or maybe you feel like it’s not going to work out because the waiting has gone on for so long. The Spirit is groaning for you too, even in your waiting season. He is pleading your case, so good is on its way to you.

Good is on its way to you.

I pray that you believe that today. Believe that good is coming to you, and the Holyspirit is going to groan until it does. Don’t let your mistakes define you. Don’t let your waiting discourage you. Be encouraged that it all really is working out for your good. God has a plan for you, and He is going to complete the work.
